Because Baby News Doesn't Thrill Everyone...

I was actually reluctant to announce this pregnancy to some people in my life because I knew it might cause them some pain. I delivered the news in different ways to different people because I knew it might hit them hard. I'm fully aware that pregnancy news doesn't thrill everyone...

There are many of you out there trying to get pregnant or silently going through pregnancy loss and hearing the news about another person having a baby is the LAST thing you want to hear.  I can tell you that I have been there and felt your pain.

Henry and Wesley’s age gap (3 years and 3 months) was not the plan I had in my mind, though it was in God’s plan.  I’d hoped my children would be closer in age. We had a journey between them that included frustration, waiting, and loss.  The journey to get pregnant with Henry was also long and frustrating, so when this current pregnancy happened sooner than the others, I was quite shocked.  I really, honestly, had a hard time feeling joyful about this pregnancy until we saw that little heart beating on the ultrasound.  Before that, I basically held my breath every day praying that things would be ok. I know things still are a guarantee, but I have hope.

I’ve lived my days of baby-less sadness, and so I can very much relate to yours if you’re feeling the same way. I just want you to know that through my joy I also grieve for those of you who are not experiencing the same thing.  It’s ok to feel how you're feeling. I pray often for those I know, and those I don’t, who have experienced loss or are suffering with fertility struggles.  I love you and lift you up to the Lord.
